Rooibos is produced by fermenting the green needle like leaves of Aspalathus Linearis, a wild shrub native to South Africa. It is a full flavored tea with low levels of tannin and no calories, oxalic acid or caffeine. Rooibos tea contains many nutrients including a full spectrum of minerals, vitamin C and high levels of antioxidants. The nourishing properties of Rooibos enable it to regulate nervous system imbalances such as headaches, irritability, insomnia, hypertension and depression. The anti-spasmodic properties of Rooibos enable it to aid in digestive imbalances like nausea, cramps, heartburn and constipation. Characteristics - Infusion yields a reddish liquor with an earthy quality that is full and sweet. Brewing Hints - Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil (203 F). Infuse 1 teaspoon of tea for each cup of hot water. Steep 5 to 7 minutes. South Africans enjoy Rooibos as a popular everyday tea.
